Workshop Descriptions and Requirements

Courses:  Currently, there are five types of workshops available; Basic Seated or Standing Figure, Intermediate, Advanced/Two Day and Specialty.  Workshops will start at 9:30 a.m. and will be completed by approximately 4:00 p.m.  A  lunch will be provided for the Basic and Specialty courses; however, people with food sensitivities should make arrangements to bring their own lunch (please advise in advance).  Participants will leave the course with their own unique sculpture which they can display in their home or garden.
For each of the courses below, participants should bring an apron or wear clothes which will tolerate stains
Payment:  Payment shall be made at least two weeks prior to the date of the class, either by cheque, by e-transfer or through a PayPal payment through the Online Store.  Cheques should be made out to Mary Lou Devine and mailed to 6773 McCordick Road, North Gower, Ontario K0A 2T0.  Such payment will guarantee a seat at the workshop and is non-refundable.   Should a person be unable to attend a scheduled workshop, any payment made will be applied to participation at the next available workshop or for a workshop for a period of up to six months following initial registration.  Beyond this time, payment will be forfeited.
BASIC WORKSHOP – creation of standing or seated figure as detailed below
STANDING FIGURE:
Participants will create a standing figure in a one day workshop.  All general material will be provided.  Sculptures will be crafted using either black, grey or bronze Paverpol.  Basic stands will be provided .  Participants may also bring other textiles such as laces or trim and jewellery, beads, silk or dried flowers with which to embellish their creations.
Cost of workshop:  $125.00 (includes all basic materials and full lunch)

 SEATED FIGURE:
Participants will create a seated figure in a one day workshop.  All general material and a basic stand will be provided.   Should participants wish to bring their own stand, they are encouraged to do so.  A pillar type candle stand is a good example of one which could be used for a seated sculpture.  Sculptures will be crafted using either black, grey or bronze Paverpol.   Participants may also bring other textiles such as laces or trim and jewellery, beads, silk or dried flowers with which to embellish their creations.
Cost of workshop:  $125 (includes all basic materials and full lunch)
INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOP
Participants will create a sitting or standing figure in a one day workshop, using a variety of textiles and Paverpol products which will be provided to attendees.  Sculptures will be crafted using either black, grey or bronze Paverpol.  Basic stands will be provided for both standing and seated figures. However, workshop participants may choose to bring their own stands should they choose to create a seated figure. Attendees may also bring other textiles such as laces or trim and jewellery, beads, silk or dried flowers with which to embellish their creations.
Cost of workshop:  $175.00 (includes all basic materials and full lunch)

SPECIALTY WORKSHOP – Heron
Specialty workshops will vary, depending on the wishes of the participants with respect to the type of sculpture being created.
This course will involve the creation of a life-size heron sculpture.  Participants will be required to bring a roll of good quality (heavy duty) tin foil and should bring an apron or wear clothes which will tolerate stains.  All other materials will be provided.  In addition to the creation of the birds, the lesson will include the painting of the herons, time allowing.

Cost of heron workshop:  $210.00 (includes full lunch)

ADVANCED/TWO DAY COURSE (MAY LEAD TO INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION):
Instructor certification is a four step process and can only be provided by a Regional Distributor.  For those wishing to pursue a certification, additional information and an application form will be provided upon notification of interest.  The course is also open to those who simply wish to obtain additional training on the various Paverpol products.  Pursuit of an Instructor certification is not a pre-requisite for taking this course.
Participants are required to bring two light coloured 100% cotton t-shirts, preferably with no decals, a roll of tinfoil, scissors and their lunches for both days.
Training will be provided on a quarterly basis.  Please see Schedule of Courses section of the website for dates.  Please also note that this is a two day intensive course.
